THE DOOMSDAY SERIES
The DOOMSDAY PREPPERS SERIES is a photographic re-imagining of events which
preceded January 20, 1976. In the weeks leading up to that day, a religious soothsayer had
predicted an earthquake would trigger a giant tsunami which would engulf Adelaide. This
catastrophe would be emblematic of God's wrath at the social liberalisation occurring
under Dunstan, himself a controversial figure. This was publicised by the media, prompting
a not insignificant number of residents to sell their property and leave; some businesses
had clearance sales while many who decided to stay indulged in doomsday parties. The
series was shot entirely on a fully converted infra-red camera.
